John Wright's five years with India have finally come to an end. And you can't really grudge him his departure, his two kids, Harry and Georgie, have hardly seen their father, and understandably want him back. India's Mr. Wright is a piece I've written on him for Cricinfo.

I am sure everyone will be praising John Wright for his contribution to Indian cricket team which is no doubt well deserved. We far better now compared to 2000 when he took over but I doubt whether he really had much control over the team strategy,planning etc. Some of the decisions in the recent series especially in the first test in Mohali, in the third test last day and thrid one dayers are simply outrageous and shows lack of planning IMO.
I will have to write somemore on this in my blog later. But being an industry insider (!)may be you can explain more on this. :)
At least with Wright's exit, we will not have dumb pun-laden headlines. Then again, if Moody becomes a coach ...

John Wright is a New Zealander. Yet, he leaves a legacy that none of his native predecessors can come even close to. As a "foreigner," he will join the ranks of Indian men and women who have brought pride and glory to India. I've written about it here:

It's a curious thing - the qualities that Wright espoused and brought to the side, things like professionalism, dedication, hard work, commitment etc. were the very qualities that we did not always see from india in this one-day series. Especially the second half.
